Cape Town – Police have reportedly opened investigations after a video, of what looks like the most nonchalant escape from a police van ever, went viral on social media.
In the video, the police van can be seen getting caught up in traffic.
The criminal in the back of the van takes the opportunity to make a break for it.
He opens the police van door and lowers himself to the ground without being noticed by the officers in front.
The suspect then crawls for a short while, before simply walking away in full view of other motorists in the traffic jam.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Masondo the police are investigating where the incident took place, reported IOL.

“The national police commissioner is also concerned about this and we are going to find out in which province it took place,” the report quoted Masondo as saying.
The video was shared on Twitter by Build One South Africa leader, Mmusi Maimane, with a caption that read: “We do not have a police service.”
However, some social media users blamed motorists who witnessed the incident, saying they could have alerted the police of the situation instead of taking videos.
Meanwhile, some tweeps called for citizens to work with the police if the country was to see a positive difference in its increasing crime rate.
