Cape Town – A video of a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer allegedly shoplifting at a Clicks store, has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the officer, who is in her uniform, is seen inside the store acting as if she’s shopping while she hides some items in her pants.

It is unclear what exactly she shoplifted or when the incident took place, but according to The South African Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse was made aware of the incident.

“I immediately contacted the store management and requested the security video footage in order to assist the JMPD to identify the officer. The JMPD quickly conducted its own preliminary investigation, and positively identified the officer,” the report quoted Phalatse as saying.
The officer was suspended pending investigations.
