Cape Town – Two people were killed while two others sustained injuries after heavily armed suspects attacked a Fidelity cash van on Wednesday morning.
The cash-in-transit heist happened on Putfontein Road in Benoni, said Blue Hawk Tactical.
According to Blue Hawk Tactical, a third person who had been shot, was taken to hospital by emergency services.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed the CIT heist, adding that the bystanders were randomly shot at.

Mathe said police in Gauteng have mobilised resources to apprehend the suspects.
“SAPS has mobilised its crime scene experts, including the bomb disposal unit, to investigate, while a multidisciplinary team has been dispatched to search for the armed suspects,” she said.
She said three getaway vehicles – a burnt-out gold BMW sedan, a silver sedan and a white Audi A1 have been recovered while the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
