Cape Town – Traffic officers and onlookers ran for cover when an accident involving three trucks caused an explosion on the R66/34 near Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.
A video of the incident shows an overturned truck on its side while other vehicles slowly make their way around the truck, with traffic officers directing traffic.

According to a statement by Arrive Alive, six vehicles caught fire while two people were injured during the accident.

“There was an initial crash involving a truck that had overturned. A second crash occurred when a truck crashed into this scene. Two people were injured but amazingly no fatalities,” the statement said.
The statement said while six cars were involved in the accident, four vehicles were set alight after the secondary accident.
The accident came shortly after the Pongolo crash that claimed 21 lives over the weekend.
According to reports, 19 of the deceased included children between the ages of 5 and 12 years.
