Cape Town – Three suspected poachers linked to the illegal harvest of Abalone have been arrested in Table Mountain National Park (TMNP), Cape Town, Park manager Frans van Rooyen said over the weekend.
In a statement, TMNP said the arrests came following the recent deployment of the Airbus H125 to Table Mountain last week.
“The Sea, Air and Mountain (SEAM) Special Operations Rangers together with the recently deployed Airbus H125 rotary-winged aircraft, had been working together to combat the scourge of abalone poaching in the Cape of Good Hope section for the previous week,” Van Rooyen said.

Suspected poachers’ diving equipment was also confiscated.
A police investigation has been launched at the Simon’s Town police station.
The remainder of the Seam team has been dispatched across the park to various locations to assist with visible policing activities during the holiday season.
