Cape Town – A video in which a snake is seen coiling itself around a woman’s leg before it is chopped into two with a knife has gone viral on social media.
In the one-minute video, the snake can be seen slithering toward a classroom when the woman believed to be a teacher approaches it and tries to trample it to death.
The snake immediately curls itself around the teacher’s leg.
She subsequently calls for help from colleagues.
“Bring me something that I can use to hold; a towel, bring me a towel, bring a towel,” she says.
Another teacher steps into view and she is armed with a knife which she uses to chop the snake off the teacher’s leg.
Schoolchildren can be heard screaming in the background.

Following the incident, the SPCA said rather than fearing snakes, it was wise for people to learn as much as they can about snakes and other creatures which lived alongside humans, in an effort to better understand them and their behaviour, IOL reported.
“Knowing how to tell the difference between the venomous ones and the harmless ones is key … Snakes play an important role in our environment by controlling rodents and other pests,” the report quoted SPCA as saying.
Take a look at some of the reactions on Twitter:

I think she might need counseling after this. The feeling she felt when cracking its head the feeling she felt when it wrapped itself on her leg!? ??. Just everything that happened those couple of minutes nje.!
