Cape Town – Motorists were left in shock after witnessing a taxi driver being assaulted by two men on a busy road.
The incident was recorded on video.
Although the clip does not indicate where it was taken from, social media users said the incident occurred in Durban.
The video has since gone viral.
In the 31-second clip, two men are seen approaching the taxi with the driver’s side door open.
One of the men strikes the taxi driver, who is seated on the driver’s seat, with what appears to be a stick.
The taxi driver alights from the taxi and a fight ensues.
The taxi driver manages to get the stick from the man and starts hitting him with it.
Suddenly the other man pulls out a gun and points it at the taxi driver.
The other man takes advantage of the situation to dish punches at the taxi driver while the other man continues pointing the gun at him.
Shocked motorists are left in shock as the altercation escalates.
“They are going to shoot him,” one man can be heard saying.
The other asks: Who crashed into who?
It remains unclear what led to the altercation.
