Cape Town – Social media users have reacted to a viral video in which Police Minister Bheki Cele says that people with tattoos have “gangster tendencies”.
According to News24, Cele was speaking to the media and residents of Orlando East in Soweto, Gauteng, following the weekend fatal mass shooting at a local tavern.
He assured the residents that police visibility in the area would be increased.

Cele said that approximately 10 000 newly recruited police officers were in training until December 15. Following their training, they would also help to secure communities.
In the same breath, Cele slammed tattoos, saying that his department will not hire people with tattoos because they “have gangster tendencies”.
“When you have a tattoo, we don’t hire you because you have a tendency of being a gangster,” said Cele.
