Cape Town – Community volunteers reportedly rescued a dog that fell into an open manhole in Tongaat on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Monday.
A short video of the incident was shared on social media, showing parts of the rescue.
In the video, the dog can be heard whimpering as one of the volunteers gently attempts to position it to bring it out of the manhole while the dog seems to cooperate.
According to the Community Emergency Response Team spokesperson Riza Mohamed Sadack, the dog didn’t suffer any injuries, reported TimesLIVE.

“The dog appeared scared and anxious. A Cert volunteer was lowered down the manhole to the dog which was then stabilised and brought back up to safety,” the report quoted Sadack as saying.
The dog did not seem to suffer any injuries and was handed over to the SPCA, the report said.
