Cape Town – Cash-in-transit company SBV Services is reportedly offering R1 million to anyone with information regarding an attempted robbery on one of its vans on Thursday last week in Table View, Cape Town.
According to Times Live, armed suspects travelling in two vehicles opened fire on an SBV cash transit van, hitting the driver on the arm.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 07.50.
Three guards who were on the back of the van were also injured while the driver rammed into a Mercedes-Benz in an attempt to force it off the road.

The suspects managed to flee the scene and they failed to get any money from the van.
The registration plate of one of the cars they were travelling in, a Mercedes-Benz, was found to have been stolen in Khayelitsha, the report added.
A video of the attempted robbery was shared widely on Social Media.

SBV chief executive Mark Barrett applauded the guards for safely guarding the money and risking their lives.
“I would like to commend the team for their bravery while defending this attack, and reiterate that SBV will not tolerate any attacks that place our employees’ lives at risk.
“SBV’s Risk and Compliance team will do everything possible to support the authorities in apprehending the suspects involved in this attack.
“We are extremely proud of the quick and evasive action taken by our CIT team in this unsuccessful attack, and we wish our injured staff member a safe and speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with his family and his colleagues,” IOL quoted Barrett as saying.
Berret added that they were offering a R1 million reward for information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those involved.
No arrests have been made.
