Cape Town – The South African Communist Party (SACP) has expressed concern that the lack of respect for the African National Congress (ANC) political mandate has led to a worsening situation in the country.
This was raised on Sunday during a three-day Central Committee meeting in Johannesburg.
The meeting aimed to discuss the SACP’s stance on the upcoming elections, government austerity measures, and neoliberal policies, SABC reported.
“Our revolution is literally contaminated badly. It’s not what it’s supposed to be and I think everyone who has studied our revolution laws knows this very well.
“We are not where we should be. I think we are in a worse off situation, partly because of lack of resect of political mandate of the ruling party,” SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila said.
South Africa is currently considered the most unequal society globally, with an unemployment rate exceeding 32%. Mapaila attributed these issues to the incomplete implementation of ANC manifestos and corruption facilitated by private businesses.
