Cape Town – Former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe’s son, Robert junior, has reportedly been arrested after he allegedly damaged property at a party in the capital Harare.
A statement by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that Robert junior, 31, was arrested following a complaint from his friend, Sindiso Nkatazo, also 31.
Reports indicated that this was after he was angered by his friend’s gardener who allegedly urinated on the wheels of his car. He, therefore, went on a rampage and damaged cars and property worth $12 000.

According to BBC, in court, his lawyer Ashiel Mugiya argued that the prosecutors had not done a thorough investigation and suggested an out-of-court settlement as Mugabe junior and the complainant were friends.

If these negotiations fail, the former president’s son will be summoned back to court, Muyiga said, according to the report.
Robert junior is the second child of the former president with his widow, Grace.
The late Zimbabwean strongman died in September 2019 at the age of 95, two years after being forced to resign following 37 years in power.
According to News24, since the death of his father, Robert junior has largely led a private life, only to make a grand entrance at a Zanu-PF rally last year in March, to endorse President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In May last year, he was admitted to a Singapore hospital after his right lung collapsed during a visit to the Asian country.
In September, he narrowly escaped death after reportedly crashing his luxury Range Rover Vogue SUV in the Nyanga resort area, the report said.
