Cape Town – Armed robbers reportedly ambushed a Fidelity cash van at a traffic light in KwaDabeka near Newlands, Durban on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Dumisani Makhaye and Ulwandle streets, towards KwaDabeka, at around 18:30.
The cash van had reportedly fetched money from Midway Mall when the armed robbers travelling in a Mercedes-Benz attacked it at a traffic light.
According to ALS Paramedics, three guards were injured during the robbery
“It is reported that the suspects fired several shots at the cash in-transit vehicle until it came to a standstill. An undisclosed amount of money was reportedly stolen as well as three firearms belonging to the guards. No one was reported injured during the incident,” the report quoted police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda,
Netshiunda said the suspects abandoned a silver Mercedes Benz and preliminary investigations confirmed that the car was reported stolen in Malvern in May 2022, the report said.
