Cape Town – Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says the appointment of Dan Marokane as the new CEO of Eskom will bring back stability to the power utility.
Eskom confirmed Marokane’s appointment on Friday, citing his experience in distressed organisations with turnaround mandates.
The power utility said he would start “no later than 31 March 2024”.
Ramokgopa said that Marokane, currently the CEO of sugar producer Tongaat Hulett, is expected to bring valuable Eskom experience.

“We are looking forward to Mr Marokane’s contribution together with the totality of the executive committee of Eskom. We do welcome the fact that at the apex office at Eskom now we do have an appointment for the next five years, which is most welcome for the work that we are doing. Certainty is key to the resolution of a crisis of this magnitude,” the minister said on Sunday while addressing the media in Pretoria.
