Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, has denied rumours circulating on social media about the president’s ill health.
According to The Citizen, Magwenya said that Ramaphosa is fine and was not hospitalised, attributing his absence from some activities at the ANC National Executive Committee meeting to a personal decision to spend the rest of the day at home.
“A malicious rumour has been doing the rounds about the President’s health and that he has been hospitalised.
“I spoke to him this morning, the President is fine, he was never hospitalised, and there was no emergency. He attended a meeting and decided to spend the rest of the day at home ahead of a busy week,” the report quoted Magwenya as saying.
The ANC’s Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, stood in for Ramaphosa at the meeting.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa will not be available for some of the activities at the ongoing NEC meeting in Mbombela due to an unspecified emergency. His deputy Paul Mashatile will stand in for him. @JuniourKhumalo_ reports.
