Cape Town — President Cyril Ramaphosa has hit back at AfriForum and Solidarity for ‘sowing divisions in South Africa’ following their recent meeting with Donald Trump’s administration in the USA.
AfriForum’s Kallie Kriel and Solidarity’s Flip Buys were in the US and met with members of Trump’s administration to advocate for the interests of Afrikaners in South Africa.
The group presented a memorandum to showcase alleged human rights violations against Afrikaners, as well as the African National Congress’s (ANC) poor governance.

In response to the surprise meeting, Ramaphosa called out AfriForum and Solidarity for looking abroad to fix issues that can and should be resolved in South Africa. He accused the two of ‘sowing divisions’, Newzroom Afrika reported.
“I’ve heard that AfriForum and Solidarity have met with representatives of the US government, but they are doing what we as South African should not do,” he said after the Basic Education Sector Lekgotla.
“We should stop running to other countries. We should discuss our problems here and find solutions. That, in many ways, confirms our sovereignty and our standing as a free and independent nation,” he added.
He said it was important for all South Africans to stay here and to work together to solve problems and to grow as a nation.
