Cape Town – One SA leader Mmusi Maimane recently took a swipe at Operation Dudula Movement leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini, saying he was “a lightie being used by your political handlers”.
Maimane said this when the two got involved in a social media spat after Maimane voiced his opinion regarding the movement during the latest episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG.
The former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader said that he had a problem with some of the methods used by the movement.
“…I struggle when someone arrives in Diepsloot and says to someone count in a language that is South African and if you cant you are an immigrant and we are going to deal with you… you are endangering your own citizens.
“Immigration is a global phenomenon. My problem with some of the Operation Dudula is doing, is that it is hating on fellow Africans, and I have a problem with that. Once you go out of your way to hate fellow Africans, you create self-hatred and furthermore you lose the actual conversation about migration. You actually enter into a space that I think undermines the sense of self,” said Maimane.

Dlamini didn’t let Maimane’s remarks slide, as he rubbished his claims.
He took to Twitter to refute Maimane’s claims, saying that his movement never practiced any of the methods that Maimane claimed they used.

“Watching @MmusiMaimane on @podcastwithmacg lying about me/dudula. We have never practiced any of the methods he associates us with. The problem with SA politicians is that they don’t call a spade a spade! They hide behind English words in attempt to sound smart,” wrote Dlamini in a tweet.

Maimane slapped back at Dlamini and called him a “lightie that is being used by political handlers”.
“Nhlanhla you are a lightie being used by your political handlers, you admitted you work with ministers on live TV. You are not a revolutionary, you are not a visionary, and your whole brand is built on hate. Your operation is a dangerous distraction that solves nothing,” wrote Maimane in a tweet.

Maimane also said that Dlamini’s movement was a “dangerous distraction that solves nothing”.
“You are a distraction. A Will Smith slap in the middle of a war in Europe. My focus is on the real causes of our problems in SA, the ANC govt that has underdeveloped and looted SA for 28 years. My focus is on fixing education, entrepreneurship and supporting small business,” Maimane wrote in a subsequent tweet.
