Cape Town – Mzansi has commended a police officer who shot and injured a suspected hijacker on the Buccleach Interchange in Gauteng on Sunday.
Police pounced on the suspected hijackers after they hijacked and crashed a Mercedes Benz.
Videos of the dramatic incident were posted on social media by Action Society’s Ian Cameron and have since gone viral.
“Good cops shoot hijackers to pieces in Gauteng. Not sure when this was. But I like it!!! We are sick of criminals. Salute to the good SAPS cops out there, we really do appreciate you,” Cameron captioned one of the videos.
In one video, a suspect can be seen trying to get away from the crashed vehicle after grabbing and pulling the driver out in an attempt to get away from the fast-approaching police.
Police open fire but one suspect manages to get away.
Police then turn their focus on the one suspect who is still in the hijacked crashed car.

The camera moves away from the hijacked car, however, when the camera moves back to the hijacked car, a suspect is seen running from the police with an officer hot on their heels.
The suspect falls and gets up and attempts to run several times while an officer is closing in behind him.
Eventually, the suspect collapses and a second officer assists the other officer to contain the suspect.
Social media users have taken to the comments section to praise the officers.

Nice one. Too bad the law will send this cop to court to review the shooting which is why cops don’t want to shoot

Is it legal to shoot someone from behind when they pose no imminent threat?
