Cape Town – The trial concerning the disappearance of Joshlin Smith, missing since 19 February 2024, is nearing its conclusion.
Accused of kidnapping and human trafficking, Jacquen ‘Boeta’ Appollis, Steveno van Rhyn, and Joshlin’s mother, Kelly Smith, return to court on Tuesday.
The State has closed its case after eight weeks, having presented multiple witnesses, including police, doctors, locals, and family members.

The defence has chosen not to call any witnesses or have the accused testify, drawing public disappointment, especially as many hoped to hear from Kelly.
Final legal arguments from both sides will now be submitted to Judge Nathan Erasmus, who is expected to deliver a verdict on Friday, 2 May.
Joshlin, a Grade 1 girl from Middelpos, remains missing.
