Cape Town – Residents in the Luzuko area in Cape Town reportedly attempted to loot a light aircraft that crash-landed in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
According to EWN, the aircraft was in training with a pilot and a student pilot aboard when it experienced an engine failure mid-air.
“Because of the actions and experience of the instructor, they were able to land the plane in an open field and managed to escape serious injury,” the report quoted Safety and Security Mayco member JP Smith as saying.

News24 reported that as soon as the aircraft crash-landed a crowd of residents gathered around the plane.
“The pilot radioed air traffic, calling for urgent assistance, complaining that they were being robbed of their personal belongings, and the aircraft looted.
“Cape Town metro police were the first on the scene. They managed to secure the area, followed by the arrival of our law enforcement and traffic services,” the report quoted City of Cape Town EMS spokesperson Eckardt Winks as saying.
Both occupants were taken to the hospital for medical evaluations.
