Johannesburg — Johannesburg residents are upset with the service delivery and the ongoing water crisis affecting multiple areas throughout the city.
The city is experiencing one of its most difficult periods, as the water crisis has left some residents without water for up to a week and many have resorted to extreme measures in a bid to survive, Daily Maverick reported.
Some residents have been forced to skip showers and make alternate plans for cooking and drinking water, spending up to aR100 per day on 5L bottled waters. The water struggles coupled with the current power crisis have made life very difficult for many residents.
Johannesburg Water released a statement saying the Zuikerbosch Water Station experienced power trips, which led to further water outages.

In an interview with eNCA, water exert Volker Von Widdern said there needs to an increase in demand and that timely maintenance needs to be ensured.
“It was clear when Rand water said they were producing enough bulk water but is insufficient in getting through to final users. If water does not get through, their is a mistake in demand side management and the continuity and risk assessment of the water needs more attention.”
He said that more water reservoirs need to be built to combat these issues and it is clear that better maintenance is needed.
Many joburg residents have been urged to reduce their water usage in the meantime until a solution has been found.
