Cape Town – Newly-appointed Johannesburg Mayor, Kabelo Gwamanda, on Tuesday, hit back at a journalist who inquired about his qualifications during a City event at the Alexandra Stadium.
The journalist asked about his highest level of education, prompting Gwamanda to question whether a similar question was posed to John Steenhuisen.
The journalist asked: “I just want to get some clarification. What is your highest level of education? That is all?”
And Gwamanda answered: “So my question that as I reiterate is that what if I am the black version of Steenhuisen? Did you conduct and interview like this with him,”

According to IOL, Gwamanda’s education was recently questioned following a report suggesting he lacked a Grade 12 certificate, with allegations that his education level is only Grade 10.
He is also accused of defrauding people through a funeral scheme.
The qualifications of Steenhuisen, the leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), have also faced scrutiny.
Gwamanda’s response to the questions about his qualifications has garnered mixed reactions on Twitter.
