Cape Town – Severe thunderstorms and heavy rains continue to batter Gauteng, with Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) responding to multiple flooding incidents.
Several areas, including Randpark Ridge, Newlands, and Jukskei Park, were affected by rising waters, trapping vehicles and damaging infrastructure on Wednesday.
Rescuers saved two motorists whose bakkies were stuck on flooded low-lying bridges in Jukskei Park and Weltevredenpark.
While there were reports of wall collapses in Honey Bee and Randpark Ridge, no injuries were recorded.
EMS remains on high alert as more rain is expected, urging motorists to exercise caution and residents in low-lying areas to avoid crossing swollen river streams.
The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for severe thunderstorms across Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
