Cape Town – A local driver is being praised on social media for his actions after he rammed into a gun-wielding man at the side of a Cape highway.
In a viral 28-second video from October 4, 2023, the motorist is seen on the highway behind a bakkie and a minibus taxi.
As the motorist slows down behind another vehicle, a gunman at the side of the highway gets up, runs towards him, and points a firearm.
Instead of stopping, the motorist continues driving and hits the gunman.
The video is accompanied by a warning to other drivers about this dangerous stretch of road.
“Please be aware on Mew Way heading to the N2 or R300 especially if you’re driving a marked company vehicle. This was my 2nd incident on this stretch since June this past Wednesday morning. They seem to be targeting marked vehicles because they know we have company laptops etc. Safe week ahead.”
Social media users have praised the man for his actions.
This incident follows a similar one where a woman in Bluff rammed a suspect who had stolen her handbag, resulting in his arrest.
