Cape Town – The Limpopo health department is investigating an incident where a frustrated mother shouted at a nurse at Maake Clinic for allegedly refusing to help her sick child.
In a viral video, the mother and nurse can be heard arguing, with the nurse saying that she couldn’t assist because she was on the phone with another patient.
The provincial health department’s MEC, Phophi Ramathuba, visited the hospital, listened to both parties, and reprimanded the nurse, Times Live reported.
“It is really uncalled for. We are ashamed of the video and about what happened. We met the nurse and listened to her side of the story, and reprimanded her,” the report quoted Ramathuba as saying.
She emphasised the importance of finding common ground and facilitated a reconciliation between the mother and the nurse.
The pair were seen holding hands and explaining their sides of the story before the nurse apologised to the mother
