Cape Town – Mourners preparing for the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s funeral in KwaZulu-Natal have skinned two giraffes and six impalas to provide meat for the event.
The animals were slaughtered at Buthelezi’s home in Ulundi, and videos and pictures of the process were shared on social media.
According to Times Live, these animals were donated by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in response to a formal request from the Buthelezi royal household.
“We did as per the request. We donated two giraffes and six impalas. We donated to them as a traditional authority, which is something we normally do to traditional authorities around our game reserves,” the report quoted Ezemvelo spokesperson Musa Mntambo as saying.
