Cape Town – The National healthcare Professionals Association (NHCPA) has reportedly condemned the murder of a 56-year-old Soweto doctor at his surgery in Soweto.
According to News24, Dr George Koboka, who practiced in Diepkloof, was killed by four gunmen, who allegedly went straight to his office and shot him on Friday.
The incident happened just a week after gunmen stormed his surgery and robbed patients of their cellphones, the report said.
The Citizen reported that Koboka was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Three suspects have since been arrested following the incident, said the report, which also quoted the NHCPA as expressing its dismay at the continued murder of medical professionals by gangs of criminals.
“No amount of poverty nor economic struggles by anything, warrants orchestrated killing of selfless professionals who sacrifice their valuable time to serve patients and to care for their families,” the NHCPA said, according to The Citizen.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the moment when Koboka was shot, has emerged on social media.
