Cape Town – At least eight people were injured when a fully loaded taxi plunged into Umvoti toll plaza in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday.
It is alleged that the taxi driver was trying to avoid a collision with overtaking motor vehicles when the taxi crashed.
Medi Response paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the nearly full taxi had slammed into the toll booth, causing injuries to at least eight passengers.
They sustained minor to moderate injuries.
“It’s alleged that two vehicles driving in convoy and overtaking, had forced the taxi to swerve to avoid a collision, resulting in it crashing into the booth,” Medi Response said in a statement.
Paramedics stabilised the injured before transporting them to hospital,
