Cape Town – Dr Nandipha Magudumana has told the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court that she was not a voluntary participant in leaving the country with her boyfriend Thabo Bester.
Magudumana appeared in court for her bail application on Tuesday.
She tearfully recounted that her lover, Thabo Bester, a convicted serial rapist and murderer, had forced her into a car and taken her out of the country against her will.
In her affidavit presented in court by advocate Frans Dlamini, Magudumana sad that on March 17, 2023, Bester directed her to “enter a vehicle and depart from the premises to an undisclosed location.
“I refused and wanted an explanation, but he forced me into a vehicle. I succumbed to the pressure due to the threats he directed at me.

“I was defenceless, helpless, with no one to report to at that time. I complied with his instructions and was taken out of the country against my will,” News24 quoted Magudumana as saying.
She argued for her release on bail, stating that she posed no danger to the public and had no history of violence.
Despite her claims, the State indicated its opposition to bail.
Magudumana said she could afford bail of R10 000, Times Live reported.
She said she would not interact or interfere with the state’s witnesses.
Magudumana had previously attempted to have her arrest and extradition from Tanzania declared unlawful but was unsuccessful in her attempts.
