Cape Town – A TikTok video by user @victoria.way has gone viral for its bizarre cooking hack involving tampons.
In the video titled “The simplest way to remove excess fat when cooking ground meat”, she places two tampons in the pan as she fries ground beef.
The tampons expand and turn brown, seemingly absorbing fat.
The video has garnered over 3 million views and elicited various reactions.

Some found it disturbing and vowed not to eat at others’ houses.
“Why I don’t eat at ppl house,” commented one person.
Others expressed concerns about potential toxins from tampons leaching into the food.
“Oh yea… all those toxins leaching out into your food,” said one person.
