Cape Town – A truck carrying beer overturned in Darnall, KwaZulu-Natal, attracting opportunistic looters who were soon stung by a swarm of bees.
The incident, confirmed by KwaDukuza municipality spokesperson Sifiso Zulu, saw law enforcement and onlookers scrambling as bees attacked the crowd.
According to Times Live, Zulu said that the local traffic department arrived at the scene to manage traffic flow, but even law enforcement officers found themselves vulnerable to the relentless swarm of bees.
Video footage of the chaos, showing people running and swatting at the bees while others laughed, went viral on social media.
Many commenters humorously speculated that the bees were “protecting the beer,” with some jokingly suggesting beehives be used as security for cash-in-transit vehicles.
