Cape Town – At least four people are reportedly trapped in a building at the China Mall in Central Durban.
“Heightened security measures, including the deployment of additional personnel, are in effect near the incident site. Localised transport and business disruptions are likely in the area in the coming hours,” Crisis24 reported on Friday.
Videos of the building on Dr Pixley Kaseme Street could be seen on social media, with smoke billowing out of it.

Times Live quoted Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenenas saying the air force has been placed on standby, as firefighters work to rescue the people insider the building.
“Firefighters are working with a high angle rescue system. At this stage it is confirmed that as many as four people are stuck in the building,” the report quoted Van Reenen as saying.
One person suffered moderate injuries and is being treated on the scene, said the report.
The cause of the fire remained unclear.
