Cape Town —American psychic Kandis Starr claims to have contacted missing six-year-old Joshlin Smith, allegedly channelling the young girl in a video she posted on TikTok.
Starr is an American psychic who has amassed a strong following on TikTok and YouTube where she shares videos of her “interacting” with the paranormal.
In her latest video about Joshlin, she posted a teddy bear, a picture of Elmo from Sesame Street, and a photoshopped image of Joshlin where she claimed to have channelled Joshlin.
In the video, which has been viewed more than 80 000 times, and has received over 200 comments, Starr explains she uses the teddy bear for paranormal investigations and when a spirit interacts with the bear, a static sound can be heard. When there is no static, the answer is likely no.
Starr asked “Joshlin” whether she was taken on a ship, and there was silence. She wondered whether her mother, Kelly Smith, had ever left her with men and whether her mother knew that she was being hurt, and the static rang on for a while.
There was further silence when she was questioned whether her mother knew of her current whereabouts, and a small noise when asked if there was witchcraft done to her.

“Joshlin” also said, that “Boeta” (Jacquin Appollis) had also hurt her, while Steveno Vvan Rhyn had assisted in moving her. When asked if her mother hurt her, the static ran on loudly for more than 10 seconds.
Lastly, Starr responded to a comment that said when the teddy bear reacted to a question, it meant that the person on the other side had passed on.
Many people took to the comments section and expressed their concern that Joshlin was still not found and pleaded for her safe return.
