Cape Town – A video in which a woman is seen being shot in the neck during an alleged argument in the Pearls Mall parking lot in uMhlanga, north of Durban, has gone viral on social media.
CCTV footage of the incident that reportedly took place in the early hours of Sunday, according to Times Live, shows a white VW Golf with occupants in the parking lot near the boom gates.
A man and a woman are seen standing outside the vehicle – the man is at the driver’s window and the woman is leaning on the back door on the driver’s side.

The victim sticks her head into the car and the man moves towards her and that is when a shot is fired. She immediately falls to the ground and the man starts throwing his hands, as if in disbelief of what has transpired.
The woman then gets up and runs away, disappearing out of the camera angle.
The driver of the car then drives off.
A News24 report said that police in Durban were investigating an attempted murder case, following the incident.

“Police responded to a report of a shooting… in Umhlanga. Upon their arrival at the said place, the 25-year-old victim had been rushed to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the neck,” the report quoted police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala as saying.
The management of Pearls Mall said it was aware of the shooting, according to IOL.
“It is not clear if those involved were patrons of the mall. The Pearls Mall security immediately called for the assistance of SAPS and the uMhlanga UIP to help in managing the situation and to restore order,” management said.
