Cape Town – A police officer who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl at the Kei Mouth police station in the Eastern Cape is expected to appear in court on Monday, August 22.
According to Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Lizzy Suping, the incident occurred on August 6 and the suspect was arrested on August 19, reported IOL.
The report said that the officer has since resigned from the police service and will appear in the Komga Magistrate’s Court.
The 45-year-old officer reportedly picked up the girl from her home to discuss a case she had filed against her boyfriend, reported News24.

En route to the police station, the officer reportedly made sexual advances which the girl declined, however, at the police station the officer allegedly took the girl to his office where he reportedly raped her.
During the ordeal, the girl bit the officer and stabbed him in the arm with a broken bottle while crying.
A case of rape was opened and the victim was scheduled for counseling.
