Cape Town – The body of Christo Fritz, who was swept away by raging waters when a boat he was testing with a friend went over the Roodeplaat Dam wall in Tshwane on Saturday, has been found.
According to TimesLive, Fritz’s body was one of two bodies recovered by the rescue and recovery teams that were dispatched shortly after the tragic incident.
Another body of a man believed to be the driver of an Audi SUV that was washed away near the Centurion Lake Hotel was also found, News24 reported.
“The search teams managed to find him (Fritz) and the recovery of the body is under way,” said Tshwane emergency spokesperson Charles Mabaso, as quoted by the two publications.
Earlier, Fritz’s life partner, Antoinette Zandberg, detailed how much the incident had affected her.
“Our three children keep asking me when he’s coming home. I’m not coping and I feel helpless. I’m constantly stressed and I can’t even sleep. I keep hoping I will wake up beside him,” she said.
Reports indicated that more bodies were being discovered as the death toll, due to the recent floods in the area, had now risen to four.
The City of Tshwane has been impacted by heavy rains over the past few days which has affected some areas in and around the city.
