University student found dead with stab wounds on the neck… boyfriend taken in for questioning

Cape Town – A Tshwane University (TUT) student was reportedly found murdered in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba, 20, was reportedly discovered with a stab wound at her campus residence, reports said.

It was alleged that Xaba’s ex-boyfriend who was a junior Blue Bulls rugby player was taken in for questioning by the police.

According to police, Xaba was reportedly drinking with friends, including her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday, however, the friends allegedly left the two together that night, TimesLIVE reported.

“The following morning, the victim was found dead with stab wounds on the neck. The ex-boyfriend has been taken in for questioning by the police. Investigations continue,” the report quoted police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Sello as saying.

TUT has conveyed its condolences to Xaba’s family and friends and condemned gender-based-violence.

“We condemn acts of violence on and off campus. Violence against women and children has reached unprecedented proportions that should be a great concern to everyone,” the university said.
