Cape Town – An underage driver reportedly died in a horrific crash in Silverton, Pretoria on Sunday morning.
In a statement, Emer-G-Med said they responded to reports of an accident on Sunday morning.
On arrival, they discovered two vehicles involved in a high-impact collision, with one of the vehicles veering off the road and smashing into a metal pole.
The car had three male occupants, including the driver. They were all believed to be 16 years of age.
The vehicle’s driver and one passenger were both critically injured, with the third occupant sustaining moderate injuries.

“The critically injured passenger was cut free using the Jaws-of-life and placed onto a ventilator by Emer-G-Med’s Advanced Life Support Paramedic. Due to the nature of his injuries, a decision was made to airlift him to an awaiting specialist facility.
“Unfortunately, the condition of the driver demised whilst still trapped within the vehicle and he was declared dead on the scene by paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med in a statement.
The occupants of the other vehicle were said to have sustained minor injuries only.
