According to preliminary information, the two victims were asleep in their respective homes when four suspects allegedly kicked their doors open and forcefully removed them. Accusing the victims of housebreaking, the suspects pushed them into a Suzuki sedan and drove off towards Southwell Road, where they were intercepted by police.
It is further alleged that one of the suspects fired four shots near the victims, though no one was injured.
The arrested suspects are due to appear in court on Monday.
Sarah Baartman District Commissioner Major General Zolani Xawuka commended the officers for their swift action. “We are stamping the authority under ‘Operation Sikhona’ (we are here) to ensure your safety,” Xawuka assured the public.
