Cape Town — Two suspects were shot and killed while a further two were wounded after three armed suspects had allegedly opened fire at a house in NU12, Motherwell in the Eastern Cape on Thursday evening.
In a statement, police said the Provinicial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in Gqeberha are seeking thew public’s help after a report revealed that three unknown men stoned into a house on Dyakalashe Street in Motherwell and began opening fire on the four victims inside. The incident happened around 9pm while the victims were watching TV.
“One victim (female) died on the scene, and the second victim died on arrival at the hospital. Two other victims (male and female) were admitted in hospital for medical attention. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage. The identity of the deceased persons is withheld until a formal identification process is concluded,” police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa, said.
Police encouraged anyone to step forward and assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
This is the latest shooting incident in the Eastern Cape after six patrollers were shot and killed in Qumbu while patrolling the Lugongozo Junior Secondary School where police confirmed that six other people survived the attack, while 18 people were killed in Lusikisi with a specialised team appointed to track down the assailants.
