Cape Town – A truck delivering exam papers to technical vocational education and training colleges in Limpopo was reportedly hijacked on the R21 in Gauteng.
The truck reportedly left a depot in Kempton Park and was hijacked at around 02:00 on Tuesday.
It was alleged the truck was later found abandoned in Delmas in Mpumalanga with some exam papers.
TimesLIVE reported that an education official confirmed that question papers for engineering studies were found in the abandoned truck.
The report said students across the country would have to write replacement papers for the two subjects, as a result of the hijacking.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, however, could not confirm whether the parcels were exam papers.
“The hijacked truck was recovered with some items and we were told some items were missing. We were told the cargo was destined for Limpopo,” the report quoted Mohlala as saying.
This came as the government was trying to put an end to exam papers being leaked.
Speaking to the eNCA recently, Basic Education Department spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga said the department was roping in State Security Agency to ensure that no matric exam papers were leaked.
He said they had pulled out all the stops getting pupils and parents to sign a pledge to avoid any irregularities.
The had also ensured that all provinces complied with the storage of exam papers.
“We are bringing all stakeholders on board to highlight the need for a clean exam, one that doesn’t have irregularities,” said Mhlanga.
DA spokesperson for education in Mpumalanga, Jane Sithole said the party was concerned that the in this “technological era” exam papers continued to be transported in trucks, exposing them to hijacking.
