Cape Town – National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola says the police are analysing several videos for evidence to track down those behind truck arsons that have gripped the country.
In recent incidents across KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo, at least 21 trucks were torched, prompting the police to anticipate making arrests soon.
“We have a number of videos we are busy analysing, and we will be able to follow up on people that are on those videos. It’s quite a number of videos that we are currently looking at which we will use, of course, as evidence at the end of the day,” said Masemola, according to EWN.
Police have identified 12 individuals as potential suspects, primarily located in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The attacks followed a similar pattern in all five instances, where unidentified gunmen would confront truck drivers, force them out of their vehicles, and set them on fire.
One of the attacks was captured in a viral video, allowing law enforcement to potentially identify the assailants.
