Cape Town — Tributes are pouring in for renowned journalist, Jermaine Craig, who collapsed and died on Monday morning, aged 47.
Craig was working out at a gym in Johannesburg when he collapsed and was rushed to Sandton mediclinic but unfortunately could not be revived. The journalist is survived by his wife, Michelle Craig and their two sons, Matthew and Christian.
Craig was one of South Africa’s best sports journalists and was the former editor of The Star and Cape Argus. He worked as the GM of sport for Independent Newspapers and head of communications for the local organising committees (LOC) of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. He also worked in communications for South African Tourism, TimesLIVE reported.
Craig also worked as the MD of his own business, Craig Communications, and was a consultant for a number of organisations including Kaizer Chiefs, LaLiga, NBA Africa, 4Racing, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Arena Holdings. At the time of this death, Craig was the media officer for CAF.
