Cape Town – In a shocking incident outside a scrap metal yard in Hart Street, Gqeberha, employees of nearby businesses described a terrifying scene.
According to News24, a group of balaclava-clad individuals in two Toyota Corollas stopped outside Inders Scrap Metal on a Tuesday around 11:00.
They kidnapped the owner, Inder Singh, forcing him into one of the cars, and in the process, his son, Bir-Devinder Singh, tried to intervene but was shot and killed, the report said.
As of Friday, Inder Singh remained missing, and no ransom demand had been made.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and the Hawks are still investigating.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing incident, with Singh’s screams and the sound of gunfire piercing the air.
Inders Scrap Metal remained closed as the investigation continues.
Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, the spokesperson for the Hawks, acknowledged the incident but mentioned that they had received the case file from SAPS relatively recently, and there have not been any updates or new developments at this time.
“The incident report received so far contains the details forwarded [to the media],” the report quoted her as saying on Friday.
