According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday when the man victim, Johannes Matshe, an employee at the reserve, was attempting to return to the property at night.
“The reserve management fencing team discovered what appeared to be human remains at about 10:37 on August 14.

Streicher said that walking on the reserve at night was prohibited, and the incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of wild animals, News24 reported.
The reserve is receiving expert advice on how to handle the lions responsible for the attack, the report said.
“Concerning the management of the lions responsible for this killing, no decision has been reached whether they have become unnaturally dangerous, but the reserve is receiving expert advice to make the most responsible decision possible for all parties concerned.
“All landowners are urged to help manage fellow landowners and guests, and to report transgressions of the rules to reserve management to try to curb any recurrence of this tragic incident,” said Streicher, according to the report.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve is the only Big Five game reserve in the Gauteng province of South Africa.
