Cape Town – Police in KwaZulu-Natal have arrested a 37-year-old traditional healer who was found in possession of unlicensed guns on Tuesday.
In a statement, police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that police received a tip-off regarding a traditional leader who was in unlawful possession of firearms.
“A search warrant was obtained and police proceeded to Macambini Reserve where the suspect resided. During a search of the house, police found two rifles, two pistols, a pellet gun and one hundred and 89 rounds of ammunition.

“The 37-year-old suspect was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as for failing to safeguard firearms. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is linked to two cases of attempted murder that were reported at Nyoni SAPS between February and March 2021,” said Ngcobo in a statement.
The suspect was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
On June 28, he appeared in the Nyoni Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail.
He was scheduled to appear in court again on August 30.
