Cape Town –Vishal Junkeeparsad, a lawyer in Kwazulu-Natal, is reportedly under investigation by the Legal Practice Council (LPC) for refusing to pay a client more than R1.5 million for a property transaction.
According to Times Live, Junkeeparsad was tasked with transferring a property owned by dentist Ian Hogg through a family trust.
Hogg previously owned a dental practice, which he sold before moving to Australia in 2018. Junkeeparsad’s firm, Vishal Junkeeparsad & Company was appointed as conveyancers at the behest of the buyer.
Hogg’s property was registered to its new owner in 2019. However, Junkeeparsad refused to pay over the proceedings, claiming that Hogg and the trust have not provided him with the necessary documents.
Hogg on the other hand said that he supplied the necessary documents three times. He said if the documents were not in order, then the transfer could not have taken place.

After much back and forth, Hogg appointed an attorney to intervene on his behalf in 2021.
The case was brought to court, and Junkeeparsad was ordered to pay the money over to Hoggs and trust.
The judgment was also referred to the Legal Practice Council “for consideration of the law firm’s conduct”.
According to IOL, this is not Junkeeparsad’s first time pulling such a stunt.
In 2015, he appeared in the Durban Commercial Crime Court for failing to release R2.9 million from his trust account to the complainant.
Junkeeparsad’s case was postponed until June.
