Cape Town – Former South African Finance Minister and Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni will be buried in his hometown of Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Saturday.
Mboweni, 65, passed away after a short illness in a Johannesburg hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
He was celebrated for his dedication to South Africa, playing a key role in shaping post-apartheid labour legislation and as the first black Governor of the South African Reserve Bank.
President Ramaphosa and the ANC praised his contributions to the economy and his personal connection with the public, with many remembering his social media presence and love of cooking.
