Cape Town — Three of the five men arrested in Cape Town for their alleged involvement in the investigation of AKA’s murder have been released, said their lawyer.
IOL reported that the arrests were captured on cellphone cameras by shoppers at the mall, but police did not confirm the arrests.
“There’s an ATM on a corner but it looked like they were trying to rob the ATM. There were undercover police officers on the scene,” a shopkeeper was quoted as saying.
However, police in KwaZulu-Natal expressed concern about the reports of the breakthrough in the murders of AKA and his friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda said reports of the arrests were “unconfirmed” and “misleading”.
The pair were shot in Florida Road, Durban, on 10 February.
News24 reported that advocate Annelene van den Heever confirmed her three clients were released in the middle of Wednesday night, adding that her fourth client was still in custody.
Meanwhile, according to TimesLIVE, van den Heever’s fourth client is due to appear in the Durban magistrate’s court on a carjacking charge.
“The three suspects who were released by the police have gone into hiding. This is because there have been threats to their lives,” she was quoted as saying.
