Cape Town — Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have confirmed the death of three suspects following another shootout with police over alleged unlicensed firearms.
The suspects were shot and killed in Msinga in KZN, and it is believed that the shooting took place in the early hours of Friday morning, The Citizen reported.
Police were led to a property in the Mbabane area after they acted on intelligence regarding a cache of unlicensed firearms, which led to the shootout.
According to eNCA, Major-General Francis Slambert confirmed the details and said police returned fire after they were shot at.
“Our members recovered two AK-47s and one revolver. It is also alleged that these suspects were also protecting the house of a traditional leader in the area,” Slambert said.
She said police’s crime intelligence and K-9 Unit responded to information in the Msinga area where five hitmen were apprehended, the same five who were allegedly involved in the KwaMashu shootout.
